England U-21s edged out Macedonia U-21s thanks to Jack Wilshere winning a late penalty. But according to the Macedonians, Wilshere had dived. Arsenal are already locked in a diving controversy with Eduardo banned for two matches for diving, here is another player involved in a similar controversy.
The manager of Macedonia said all his players feel it was a dive, and they did let it know by surrounding the referee after the penalty was given:
"I will have to see the incident again, but my players all felt it was a dive."
But Stuart Pearce is absolutely certain it wasn't a dive:
"There is no way that was a dive.
"I've only seen it the once and for me it was a clear penalty.
"All credit to Jack, he is very, very clever with his feet. He was just too much for them because they were tiring.
"I asked him to put a little bit of pressure on their back line and he did exactly that.
Again Wilshere isn't the man you expect to be diving. But I haven't seen the incident yet so I'm not sure whether to agree with Pearce or not. If anyone of you watched the match do let your impression of the incident known in the comments section below.
